Senior Center Keeps It Cool While the Temperature Rises
Ice Cream Social Returns on July 15
July 11, 2013
The month of July in Tallahassee is usually HOT, HOT, HOT. When the temperature soars, the Senior Center likes to cool off – with an old fashioned Ice Cream Social! This event has become a summer tradition. It’s a light-hearted, fun and delicious way to recognize more than 400 Tallahassee Senior Center (TSC) volunteers. The shindig is open to the public! You’re invited to enjoy the tasty treats for free from 12:30-2 p.m. on Monday, July 15.
All kinds of flavors and toppings will be available: vanilla, chocolate, with sprinkles or without. There are so many choices, which is kind of like the Senior Center. While you’re enjoying the ice cream, take a look around at the many classes and learning sessions that the Senior Center has to offer. You can keep it simple by choosing one class to attend, or you can plan a whole day of activities. From yoga to computers to foreign languages, there’s something new and exciting to attend each day at the Senior Center. There are also a slew of special events, like lectures, group trips and concerts. If you’re looking for something more low-key, there are opportunities for that as well, like card games and movies.
During the event, enjoy live entertainment from David Carty. This is a chance to meet your neighbors and friends and say thank you to the many volunteers who make TSC programs incredibly interesting. When the Ice Cream Social is over, take a tour of the Old Armory and learn fascinating facts.
