Late Night Fire Rips Through Home
Family Escapes Unharmed
August 19, 2014
At 1:14 a.m., units from the Tallahassee Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 2000 Block of Windsor Oaks Ct. The homeowner woke to smoke throughout the house and quickly woke up his daughter before escaping the home. Firefighters arrived to fire through the roof of the single-story home and quickly attacked the fire. Fire crews battled the blaze for twenty minutes before calling the fire out. The family's dog was not able to survive the fire though no other injuries were reported. Fire Investigators with the Tallahassee Fire Department along with the State Fire Marshal's Office and ATF&E could not pinpoint a cause of the fire but couldn't rule out a lightning strike. Damages from the blaze were estimated at $250,000 and displaced the family of three.
