City of Tallahassee Green logoThe Environmental Policy and Energy Resources (EPER) Department was developed in April 2008 by City Manager Anita Favors Thompson to bring additional focus to the City's "green" efforts.

EPER directs all the City's green initiatives, including creating and monitoring energy reduction programs and seeking grants for green programs. It also is responsible for establishing organizational policies to keep the City of Tallahassee at the forefront of responsible action in relation to the environment and energy use.

EPER helps promote environmental stewardship within the community and is responsible for assuring organizational compliance with federal and state environmental regulations.

Sustainable YOU Conference

2011 Sustainable YOU ConferenceThank you for making the 2011 Sustainable YOU Conference a memorable experience. The conference featured keynote speaker presentations by the following sustainability leaders:

  1. Majora Carter, Peabody Award Winner and President of the Majora Carter Group
  2. Mayor Bob Dixson, mayor of Greensburg, KS, a noted green-city
  3. Joe Tankersley, a Disney Imagineer and sustainability story teller

Together, all three inspirational presentations encouraged area and regional attendees to take local action to help create more livable and sustainable communities.
