GreenPrint - Energy
In order for the City to become more sustainable in its energy generation and consumption, considerations must be given to the generation of energy from alternative resources and technologies while addressing issues such as reliability, cost-effectiveness, and the environment. The City has already taken proactive steps to use renewable energy sources by:
- Investing in a clean natural gas fleet of electric generators that are fuel-efficient and produces one of the lowest carbon footprints in the country
- Producing its own biodiesel
- Creating idle-free technology for its Police Department
The energy efficiency and conservation strategies proposed in the Energy Target Area will help the City further reduce its reliance on energy generated from fossil fuels.
Target Area Goal: Provide a safe, reliable, and cost effective energy system that maximizes energy efficiency, decreases electric consumption and demand, and increases reliance on energy generated from renewable energy resources.
