"Creating Green" Poster Competition
Call for Entries:
Are you a high school or college student who has a great idea for a product, service, practice or policy that will protect our environment, grow the local economy, enhance health, and provide clean air and water and access to locally grown food? Along with several community partners, the City of Tallahassee is hosting a poster competition for you to share your "green" ideas for a chance to win cash prizes.
For the purposes of the "Creating Green" Poster Contest, a poster is a visual presentation of research or activity that addresses the sustainability aspects of green business products, processes, or services. It uses schematic diagrams, graphics, tables and other visual strategies to engage the audience, and text is kept to a minimum. The poster should succinctly address one central category, clearly exhibit the category's questions or ideas in the poster, and use the presentation to provide a clear and explicit message. Suggested topics are given in the categories below, or your own ideas and words may be used.
Poster entries must address one of the following three subject areas:
- Building the Business Case for Sustainability
Entries should address how the benefits of sustainability can be identified, quantified, and communicated to local businesses; how sustainability principles and best practices can be promoted in the local community; and/or how the most effective, sustainable businesses operate, and how this information can be shared.
- Green Products or Services Innovation
Entries should propose a new product or service to address an environmental opportunity area and demonstrate how that product or service provides an innovative, sustainable alternative to conventional products/services.
- Better Business Practices/Policies/Processes
Entries should propose an innovative practice or process that promotes the principles of Environmentally Preferable Purchasing such as waste reduction, reduced energy usage, and/or pollution prevention; and/or how negative impacts are reduced throughout the life cycle of the process, product, and service with innovative practices.
Posters can only be set-up for judging on April 23rd between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at TCC’s Center for Workforce Development. An 8.5” X 11” sheet that includes the abstract, entry category, name and contact information must also be provided.
