The City of Tallahassee Division of Emergency Management was established in 1992, to coordinate the City's departmental response to emergencies. The Division strengthens the coordination between City departments, County, State and Federal Agencies to service our community in times of need.
The department supports all City departments, focusing on the thirteen (13) essential services our community relies upon for our daily activities; fire, police, electric, water, sewer, natural gas, traffic engineer, public works, star metro, information management, regional airport, communications, solid waste. The City's Emergency Management Team, utilizes the Incident Command System (ICS) to manage events, training responders in both the ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS) to provide a coordinated and rapid response to any event.
