Tallahassee Regional Airport Inducts Two to Wall of Fame

Museum Wall Honors Contributors to Tallahassee's Aviation History - The Tallahassee Regional Airport will host a private ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 10:30 a.m. honoring two individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of aviation in our community. Selected to be the newest inductees on the Airport's "Wall of Fame" are Geraldine "Jerrie" Mock, the first woman to fly solo around the world; and Henry Jackson Yaeger, Jr., a World War II pilot. The event will include an unveiling of plaques on the Wall of Fame as well as presentation of certificates and plaques to honorees and family members.
The Airport requested nominations last fall for individuals who have made significant contributions to the history of aviation in the greater Tallahassee area (within a 100-mile radius of the Tallahassee Regional Airport). Five applications were accepted, either from individuals who wished to nominate themselves or on behalf of other individuals or groups.
Representing Tallahassee area aviation and business communities, members of the Aviation Wall of Fame Work Group volunteer their time to review all applications, evaluate qualifications and select the candidates most qualified to be honored. The selection process is conducted annually to solicit applications from worthy candidates to be honored on the Wall of Fame, located in the Aviation Museum on the second floor of the Ivan B. Munroe Terminal.
