Police Foil Burglary In Progress

Yesterday (Thursday) at approximately 4:20PM, the Tallahassee Police Department responded to Savannah Crossing Apartments, 2738 W. Tharpe Street, in reference to a burglary alarm. Upon arrival, the officer began to check the residence and discovered the screen off a broken window. The officer heard noises in the residence and then saw a male suspect emerge from inside. The male suspect fled from the officer. The officer gave chase, deployed TASER that was ineffective, and finally tackled and arrested the suspect approximately 200 yards from the burglary site. At the conclusion of the investigation, the arrestee was delivered to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
Arrested: Emmanuel Smith, B/M, 15YOA
Charges: Burglary of Unoccupied Dwelling & Resisting Officer Without Violence
