Lane Closures On Capital Circle to Continue

City Logo December 4, 2009

Sanitary Sewer Line Repair Work Continues - In continuation of the efforts to repair the forcemain along Capital Circle, the City of Tallahassee Underground Utilities will lengthen the lane closures that have been ongoing along Capital Circle SE.

Beginning Wednesday, December 9, the City of Tallahassee Underground Utilities will establish partial lane closures along Capital Circle between approximately Wandering Creek Lane and Easterwood Drive for sanitary sewer work.

The innermost northbound and southbound lanes, as well as portions of the median turn lanes, on Capital Circle Northeast/Southeast beginning north of Wandering Creek Lane and ending slightly north of Easterwood Drive will be closed. The two remaining northbound and southbound lanes of Capital Circle will remain open during this portion of construction.

The intersection of Capital Circle and Park Avenue/Conner Boulevard will also experience temporary closures during nighttime hours.

Construction will take place 24 hours a day until the work is completed. However, work will be halted on December 23 and restart on January 3, 2010. Pending no unforeseen circumstances, work is anticipated to be completed in early March.

Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution in this area, as there will be crews and heavy machinery present.

Crews will be completing sanitary sewer work as the final phase of the Capital Circle Sewer Upgrade Project. The Capital Circle Sewer Upgrade Project includes a replacement of the sewer main underneath Capital Circle that was damaged during Tropical Storm Fay. The damage caused by Tropical Storm Fay has the potential to cause sewage spills. Although the work may at times disrupt traffic, it is required to protect the environment by installing the new sewer line.
