TPD Conducts Search Warrants

The Tallahassee Police Department Special Investigations Section conducted two search warrants on December 2, 2009, for two unrelated investigations.

The Special Investigations Section assisted the TPD Target Enforcement Squad after they developed probable cause to believe arrestee Ryan Thompson and Christopher Wright were in possession of cannabis inside their residence. A narcotics search warrant was obtained for their residence, 1400 N. Martin Luther King Blvd. Ninety-two point eight grams of cannabis, 9.8 grams of Psilocybin, 1 gram of LSD, as well as a small amount of cocaine, Xanax, and Adderall were seized. There were also approximately 30 unused glass cannabis pipes in the residence, which were seized as well.

Thompson and Wright were arrested and charged with Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Sell, Possession of Paraphernalia with Intent to Sell, Possession of Cannabis less than 20 Grams, and Possession of Paraphernalia.

There is a related ongoing investigation and more arrests are expected.

Members of the TPD Special Investigations Section conducted a search warrant at 124 West 4th Avenue. The US Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force and the TPD Career Criminal Unit responded to the residence while attempting to locate fugitive Cory Matthews, who had outstanding felony arrest warrants from Jacksonville, Florida related to cannabis possession and DUI. Matthews was also being sought by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office for questioning in reference to a homicide in Jacksonville.

Probable cause to believe there was cannabis inside the residence was developed during the investigation and members of the Special Investigations Section obtained a search warrant. Investigators located and seized 226 grams of cannabis and a stolen firearm from Jacksonville inside the home. The resident, Nisean Henley, was arrested and charged with Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Sell within 1000' of a Daycare and Grand Theft of a Firearm.

Investigators determined the possible location of Matthews, who was eventually located in the 600 block of Dixie Drive and arrested. He was charged with two outstanding arrest warrants for Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Sell and DUI.
