City Commission Holds Annual Retreat

The Tallahassee City Commission will hold its annual retreat Monday, Feb. 2, at the Tall Timbers Research Station (13093 Henry Beadel Drive, off County Road 12 approximately 2½ miles west of Thomasville Road). The retreat is set to take place from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Following the retreat, Tall Timbers staff will escort the Commission on a walking tour of the facility.
The primary focus for this year's retreat (agenda) will involve reviewing the overall economic climate in Tallahassee. Specific discussion topics include the following:
- Review of the national global downturn in 2008;
- Examination of the local business economic outlook;
- An update on the federal economic stimulus package, to include a review of proposed local and regional stimulus package projects;
- Discussion of current City policies and if they should be adapted to meet the needs of the current economy, including expediting projects keeping citizens employed; and,
- Developing City key focus areas and priorities for 2009 calendar year and beyond.
Directions to Tall Timbers Research Station: From downtown Tallahassee, head north on Thomasville Road, then turn left on County Road 12 just before the Georgia state line. The Tall Timbers Research Station is located approximately 2½ miles west on County Road 12 - turn into the complex on Henry Beadel Drive.
