CONA, County and City Host Neighborhood Recognition Program Eat and Greet
Food For Thought on Preparing Your Application
April 18, 2014
The Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA), Leon County and the City of Tallahassee are hosting an Eat and Greet to provide an overview and tips for an easy submission of applications for this year's Neighborhood Recognition Program. This meeting will be held Thursday, April 24, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Renaissance Center, 2nd Floor Conference Room, 435 N. Macomb St.
Light refreshments will be provided along with prizes. Officials from all three organizations will address potential applicants in an overview of the program, as well as offer a question and answer session. Applicants will also be able to get assistance with entry forms. Residents who are interested in applying for the 2014 Neighborhood Recognition Program are encouraged to complete and submit applications before or on the day of the deadline, which is Thursday, May 1.
Leon County and the City of Tallahassee will respectively recognize two outstanding Small Neighborhoods of the Year (200 or fewer homes) and two Large Neighborhoods of the Year (more than 200 homes); the County will also honor one Unincorporated Area Neighborhood of the Year (outside the city limits). The winning neighborhoods will receive a sign to display at their entrance and bragging rights as a 2014 Neighborhood of the Year.
The County and City are also accepting nominations for the 2014 Neighbor of the Year. These individuals must have exemplified the characteristics of leadership and servitude in making contributions to their community.
Winners of the Neighborhood of the Year and Neighbor of the Year awards will be announced on Monday, June 9, 2014, at CONA's 34th Annual Awards Reception, where CONA will also present its annual Public Servant of the Year and Business Neighbor of the Year awards.
Applications and nomination forms for the 2014 Neighborhood Recognition Program are available online at www.LeonCountyFL.gov for the County, at www.Talgov.com for the City and at www.econa.org for CONA.
