Tallahassee Animal Services Offers
Low-Cost Vaccination Clinic
March 26, 2014
Rabies Vaccinations for Dogs and Cats This Saturday - This Saturday, March 29, Tallahassee Animal Services will hold a low-cost rabies vaccination clinic for dogs and cats at the Jake Gaither Community Center, located at 801 Bragg Drive. The clinic will be held from 9 to 11 a.m.
This clinic is part of the City of Tallahassee’s efforts to reduce the spread of rabies in our community. Rabies is caused by a deadly virus, and is contagious to both animals and people. There is no cure for rabies, which is why prevention is especially important.
“This Saturday will be our 20th low-cost rabies vaccination clinic since we started providing this community service in 2007,” said Dr. Rachel Barton, Tallahassee Animal Services Veterinarian. “To date, we have protected more than 3,200 pets. Just a few minutes of your time will protect your pet, your family and your community.”
Be the Solution, Inc., will be on hand to distribute low cost spay/neuter vouchers to pet owners. In addition, lunch will be provided to clinic attendees from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., courtesy of Sonny’s BBQ.
State and local laws require all dogs and cats to be vaccinated against rabies. Pets must be at least three months old to be vaccinated. While at the clinic, animals must be in a pet carrier or on a leash.
A suggested donation of $5 per pet will help cover the cost of the vaccination, as well as future clinics. Free personalized identification tags will also be provided to all pets that attend Saturday’s clinic. To shorten your wait time, you can download the registration paperwork by visiting Talgov.com/animals and complete it before you arrive.
