Lovers of the outdoors have a new resource designed to connect them to the best parks and trails that Tallahassee has to offer. With the release of the City of Tallahassee's newest smartphone app - TallyParks - park goers have a convenient way to access information including maps, amenities and more.
"From the new Canopy Walkway in Lafayette Heritage Trail Park to the grand opening of Cascades Park this weekend, Tallahassee has more park space than ever before," said Mayor John Marks. "This new app puts all of our parks at your fingertips. TallyParks makes it easy to find park information whether you are looking to navigate a trail or planning your next outing."
In the app, users can easily locate parks and trails near their current location. Once on a trail, a built-in scanner allows users to scan QR codes on trail markers to figure out where they are. There is even a handy explanation of how to read trail markers.
The app, developed by the City's Information Systems Services department, provides a full list of City parks (including their features and location) and trails (including their location, total distance and designated usage). If you're looking for a park or trail with a specific feature - such as a basketball court, dog park, garden path, playground or shower facility - the app has a list of all the amenities available. When you click on a specific amenity, a list of every park and trail that includes that amenity pulls up.
TallyParks is free and available for download from the App Store on Apple devices and Google Play Store on Android devices. You may also visit Talgov.com for download information.
