UPDATE: All Tallahassee
Roads & Bridges are Open
January 30, 2014
UPDATE: As of 5:17 a.m Thursday morning, all roads and bridges in Tallahassee are open.
The City of Tallahassee is responding to continued impacts from the cold front moving through the area.
Ice is causing hazardous road conditions throughout the city. The Tallahassee Police Department is asking citizens to please stay off the roadways and exercise extreme caution if you must venture out.
The following roads are currently closed due to ice:
- Orange Avenue at the bridge just east of Springhill Road
- Monroe Street at Gaines Street
- eastbound and westbound Capital Circle Northwest
- Centerville Road at the I-10 overpass
- Capital Circle Northeast at Easterwood Drive
- Olson Road at the I-10 overpass
- Brounough Street and Blount Street
- Duval Street at Harrison Street
Additionally, the Florida Department of Transportation has shut down I-10 from the state line to Madison County. This includes all of Leon County. The State has asked Tallahassee Police to assist with road closures to I-10 interchanges in Tallahassee.
If you experience an issue with any City services, please call 891-4YOU (4968). The customer call center will remain staffed around the clock.
The City’s Public Works Department is responding with sand to icy locations. As this is a fluid event, road closures could change.
If you are driving, remember that roads are slick, and icy spots can exist even if you can’t visibly see ice. Please drive slower than normal, leave extra room between cars and don’t slam on the brakes. Quickly hitting the brakes can cause your car to slide.
The City's Electric Utility is reporting 12 customers currently without power, and crews are responding.
