SUBJECT/TITLE: Reappointment of Citizens to Municipal Code Enforcement Board

STATEMENT OF ISSUE
The terms of Municipal Code Enforcement Board members Ms. Echo Gates and Mr. Corey McFarlane expire June 2009. Both members are eligible for and wish to serve another term; it is requested that they be reappointed.
This board exists by authority of F.S. 162, Part I, City Code Part II, Ch. 2, Article V, Div. 3, Sec. 2, and is composed of seven members, all of whom shall be residents of the City. Appointment to the code enforcement board shall be made by the City Commission, and the membership of the enforcement board shall consist of, whenever possible, an architect, a businessperson, an engineer, a general contractor, a subcontractor and a realtor.
In addition to the seven-member board, there are four Code Magistrates who shall have the power to prepare and enter orders on behalf of the board. The City Manager has the authority to appoint the Code Magistrates, and to remove a Code Magistrate with cause after notice.
The Municipal Code Enforcement Board and Code Magistrates shall have the purpose of conducting hearings relating to the enforcement of all ordinances over which the environmental code enforcement board does not have jurisdiction. Members are required by statute to file financial disclosure.
