Proclamation presented by Mayor Marks
to Myron Rolle, Florida State University Rhodes Scholarship Recipient
WHEREAS, Myron Rolle was born in Houston, Texas on October 30, 1986, the youngest of five boys; and
WHEREAS, Myron Rolle graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA and was ranked the #1 high school football player in the nation by ESPN; and
WHEREAS, Myron Rolle had 83 football scholarships and 21 Advanced Preparation credits upon entering college; and
WHEREAS, Myron Rolle won the 2008 All American 3rd Team, the All ACC 2nd team, and the Bill McGrotha / Spirit Humanitarian Award; and
WHEREAS, Myron Rolle has been featured or recognized by the following media: ESPN SportsCenter, Outside the Lines, GameDay, ESPN Magazine, Sports Illustrated, the Miami Herald, CSTV, Washington Post, Atlanta Journal Constitution, USA Today, the Tallahassee Democrat; and
WHEREAS, Myron Rolle was the only student on the University’s Athletics Committee, the Gender Equity and Student Athlete Welfare Committee and the Athletic Director Search Committee; and
WHEREAS, Myron Rolle graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Florida State University Pre-Med program in two and a half years with a 3.75 GPA ; and
WHEREAS, Myron Rolle was a 2008 Rhodes Scholarship Award Recipient; and
WHEREAS, Myron Rolle plans to pursue a medical degree following a career in the National Football League; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, John Marks, by the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of Tallahassee, do hereby recognize and honor
Myron Rolle
in the City of Tallahassee, and urge all citizens to join me in congratulating Myron Rolle for his numerous academic, athletic and humanitarian accomplishments.
