Fly with US Airways Non-Stop from TLH to DCA

US Airways First Direct Flight to Nation's Capital Takes Flight Sunday

TLH to Host Ceremony and Water Cannon Salute - Tallahassee Regional Airport today announced that the long-awaited inaugural US Airways non-stop service between Tallahassee Regional Airport (TLH) and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) in Washington, D.C., takes off on March 25. US Airways will operate the new service using its CRJ-200 aircraft that accommodates up to 50 passengers.

"Connecting Florida's capital city to our nation's capital is long overdue," said U.S. Senator Bill Nelson. "We're grateful to all the folks who worked hard to make this happen."

To celebrate the new service to DCA, an Inaugural Ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. post security at Gate A-3 and will include remarks from State of Florida representatives and City leaders, including Congressman Steve Southerland, former Congressman Allen Boyd and Mayor John Marks. City Commissioners may also be in attendance. A traditional water cannon salute and reception will follow. Visitors to the airport will have an opportunity to view the water cannon salute from the Aviation Museum located on the second floor of the airport terminal.

"We're very proud to offer non-stop service for travelers flying between the two capital cities," Mayor Marks said. "Direct flights between Tallahassee and Washington D.C. will lead to greater business and leisure opportunities for our community and judging from the large number of tickets sold for Sunday's inaugural flights this will be a busy route."

Sunday's inbound flight from DCA is sold out, and the outbound flight from TLH is currently at 32. Tickets can be purchased online at www.usairways.com or by calling US Airways Airlines or your local travel agent. The new air service to Washington, D.C., will allow passengers flying into DCA the opportunity to connect to an additional 27 destinations located in the northeastern United States, including, but not limited to, Boston, New York and Philadelphia.

The schedule for new service between Washington, D.C., and Tallahassee, Fla., is as follows (all times local):

Tallahassee to Washington (DCA)
Flight: 2536
Departure: 5 p.m.
Arrival: 7:07 p.m.

Washington (DCA) to Tallahassee
Flight: 2545
Departure: 2:15 p.m.
Arrival: 4:30 p.m.

Today, the average cost for a round trip flight between TLH and DCA is $382 plus taxes and fees.

US Airways is one of four major commercial air carriers servicing the Tallahassee market, including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Express Airlines.
