StarMetro Invites Stakeholders to Think Transit
Virtual Community Meetings to be held April 14
March 29, 2021
StarMetro, the City of Tallahassee’s mass transit service, invites residents to attend a virtual community meeting on Wednesday, April 14, to help plan for our community’s transit future. Two meeting times are available: 10:30 a.m. to noon and 6-7:30 p.m. Registration is available online at Talgov.com/ThinkTransit.
This is the second set of virtual community meeting as part of StarMetro’s 2021 Major Update, which includes efforts to update its 10-year Transit Development Plan (TDP) and Comprehensive Operational Analysis (COA). The TDP is an important planning document that must be updated annually to receive funding from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The COA will take a deep dive into StarMetro’s existing service operations to identify ways to capitalize on system strengths and address weaknesses. Together, these efforts will craft a short-term action plan to strengthen existing transit services and a longer-term strategy for system development over a 10-year planning horizon.
For residents who are unable to attend the April 14 meeting, all materials from the online event will be available at Talgov.com/ThinkTransit after the meeting. The “Design Your Own Transit System” game, which gauges community priorities related to transit in a fun and interactive way, is available on the website.
Following the collection of additional community input, the draft TDP is expected to be presented to the Tallahassee City Commission for approval this summer, prior to submission to FDOT. Efforts on the COA will continue throughout the year.
