TPD Arrests Suspect in String of NE Burglaries
May 14, 2020
TPD has been investigating a string of Burglaries in the northeast section of Tallahassee in which over $17,000 of jewelry and property was stolen. After reviewing video footage and pawn activity, investigators were able to link Ellis with the crimes. The crimes occurred in the 700 block of Piedmont Drive, the 3500 block of Limerick Drive, and the 2400 block of Blarney Way.
Ellis would force entry into unoccupied homes and steal jewelry and other easily carried items before fleeing in his vehicle. His arrest closes out four break-ins, and he is suspected of several more.
Due to his extensive history the case was forwarded to TPD’s Career Criminal Unit, an element of the US Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force. Investigators with the task force apprehended Ellis yesterday afternoon.
Although some of the jewelry was recovered, much of it is unaccounted for. If anyone has information regarding Ellis or this case, please call TPD at 850-891-4200 or Crimestoppers at 850-574 TIPS (8477).
