TPD Arrests Four Juvenile Suspects in Carjacking
April 13, 2020
At approximately 11:45pm on Friday, April 10th, the Tallahassee Police Department responded to a Carjacking which had just occurred.
The adult female victim was walking in the area of the main fountain in Cascades Park, located at 1001 S Gadsden Street when she heard someone running up behind her. The suspect passed her and then spun around suddenly to face her. The male suspect, later identified as Janari Chavers, pointed a handgun at her and demanded her car keys. A second suspect, later identified as Myrkee Stokes, came up behind her and also pointed a firearm at her. Instead of taking her keys, the suspects told her to walk to her vehicle.
As they were walking, they approached a group of four or five people who were exercising in the park. As the victim drew near the people, she noticed the suspects had fled.
Responding officers located four individuals walking at the intersection of Meridian Road and Magnolia Drive, and the descriptions of three of them matched those given by the victim. When officers attempted to make contact with the group, all four fled.
All suspects were eventually apprehended, and the subsequent investigation ended with all four being charged for their parts in the crime. The two firearms suspected of being used were recovered, and both were determined to be airsoft/pellet guns.
