Try Something New with the Lifelong Learning Extravaganza
Attend a Launch Party Next Week
August 01, 2019
Have you ever wanted to learn how to make chocolate, visit an animation festival or go on a historic ghost tour? If you have, then the Lifelong Learning Extravaganza (L3X) program has something in store just for you. Coordinated by Tallahassee Senior Services, L3X returns this September for its 10th year and provides a month-long program of lifelong learning at its finest, with new educational opportunities for everyone’s palette.
To preview some of the planned activities, Tallahassee Senior Services is hosting launch parties on Monday, August 5, from 8:30-10 a.m. and on Tuesday, August 6, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Both launch parties are open to the public and will take place at the Tallahassee Senior Center, located at 1400 N. Monroe Street. During the launch parties, interested participants will be able to pick up a course catalog, meet with instructors and enjoy refreshments. While the launch parties provide a fun preview of the L3X activities, they are not required for registration.
This year’s L3X program offers more than 50 classes, tours, workshops, recreational activities, field trips and entertainment on the broad themes of art, music, science, history, culture, food and drink. Activities are affordable and designed to appeal to both working and retired adults age 18 and older.
Members of the Tallahassee Senior Center Foundation will be able to register for L3X activities beginning Wednesday, August 7. The general population can begin registering on Monday, August 12. To view the course catalog and register online, visit www.TallahasseeSeniorFoundation.org. Early registration is encouraged since many available spots fill quickly.
During L3X, participants attend activities on a pick-and-choose basis. Classes and tours are offered at a variety of times, vary in cost and are individually priced from $7 to $65. Three events this year will be offered at no charge. Full payment is required with registration. There will be no refunds unless an activity is cancelled. L3X activities will begin on Tuesday, September 3, and conclude with a luncheon on Friday, September 27, with featured speaker John Fowler, author of “A Forest in the Clouds.”
