Airport Announces TSA Pre-Check Program and Hosts Temporary Enrollment Center
January 25, 2018
To enhance the customer experience, the Tallahassee International Airport (TLH) has implemented the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Pre-Check Program at TLH. The TSA Pre-Check Program offers enrolled travelers greater ease and efficiency when processing through airport security checkpoints. If approved to use TSA Pre-Check lanes at participating airports, travelers are permitted to keep on their shoes, belts and light outerwear jackets and can also leave their laptops and liquid 3-1-1 bags inside their carry-on bags when they process through an airport security checkpoint. Wait times for TSA Pre-Check lanes are typically 5 minutes or less.
To assist local travelers with TSA Pre-Check Program enrollment, TLH will host a Temporary Pre-Check Enrollment Center from Monday, Jan. 29 through Friday, Feb. 2. The enrollment center will be located adjacent to the Visitor Information Center in the Ivan Munroe Terminal facility and will be staffed from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. daily.
Applying for TSA Pre-Check via this center is easy. Applicants are encouraged to pre-enroll by simply clicking here. Choose “Start Application Now” then “Apply Now” and fill out steps 1 through 4. Once you arrive at step 4, type in your location as “Tallahassee, FL” and be sure to choose “Tallahassee International Airport”. Select “Next” at the bottom of the screen and select an appointment time (the first available shows, but you can use the drop down to choose a different date and/or time). Please note that to complete the application process, you will need to bring proof of identity and U.S. citizenship documentation (such as a U.S. Passport or birth certificate and a driver’s license). The application process is completed on site when fingerprints are captured and the $85 background check fee is collected. The fee can be paid by credit card, money order, company check or certified/cashier's check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted. After completing enrollment, successful applicants will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) via U.S. mail. The enrollee can enter the provided KTN in the “Known Traveler Number” field when booking airline reservations.
In addition to the TSA Pre-Check Temporary Enrollment Center at TLH, travelers can also enroll at one of several airport locations across the country. More than 200 airports and 40 airlines participate in the TSA Pre-Check Program nationwide. Visit here to learn more.
“We are very pleased to be able to work with our TSA partners and offer this service at TLH. The Temporary Enrollment Center will offer convenience and accessibility to travelers who prefer to enroll locally rather than traveling to a dedicated enrollment center. The roll-out of the TSA Pre-Check Program at TLH is just one example of several new customer amenities planned for TLH in the near-term,” Interim Director of Aviation David Pollard said.
