February 01, 2017
Senior athletes are going the distance to stay active and healthy. To help them in their fitness endeavors, the Tallahassee Senior Center, in partnership with the City of Tallahassee’s Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs (PRNA) department, is hosting the eighth annual Capital City Senior Games from March 4-13. Registration is now open. Competitions are designed for all fitness levels and include archery, bag toss, basketball, bowling, cycling, golf, horseshoes, pickleball, power lifting, swimming, table tennis, tennis, track and field and a one-mile fun run/walk.
“Each year, seniors from across the community come together to participate in the Capital City Senior Games and enjoy the benefits that come with being active and making new friends,” City Commissioner Gil Ziffer said. “We are fortunate in Tallahassee to have an active Senior Center focused on enhancing the quality of life for our aging population, earning us the designation as an Age-Friendly Community.”
Seniors 50 years and older who want to participate in the Capital City Senior Games can sign up by mail, in person or online. Online registration is available at Talgov.com/Seniors. Registration forms are available for pick up at the Tallahassee Senior Center, located at 1400 N. Monroe Street, and at the PRNA office, located at 912 Myers Park Drive. Completed registration forms can be mailed to or dropped off at both of these locations.

The Capital City Senior Games is presented in partnership with Audiology Associates, Capital Health Plan, Friends of Our Parks, Leon County Government, Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, Tallahassee Senior Center & Foundation and Visit Tallahassee.
