TFD Responds to Residential Fire on Andy Colley Trail
January 28, 2021
Today, Jan. 28, at 10:38 a.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) responded to a structure fire on Andy Colley Trail on Lake Talquin. Initial crews arrived and began attacking the fire and clearing the home after finding smoke coming from underneath the structure. Additional crews arrived and assisted with fire suppression.
No one was home at the time of the fire, but a neighbor saw the smoke and called 911. Prior to TFD’s arrival, the neighbor went inside the home and removed the family’s pets.
The fire is believed to have been caused by the air conditioning system, resulting in an estimated $10,000 in damage. Most of the damage was underneath the residence, and the bulk of the home was able to be saved.
TFD was assisted on scene by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office and personnel from Talquin Electrical Cooperative.
TFD is committed to protecting the community through prevention, preparation and protection. Smoke inhalation can be deadly.
