The City of Tallahassee and Leon County Government invite citizens to celebrate Arbor Day by planting trees at Martha Wellman Park, 5317 W. Tennessee Street, on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 9 a.m. This event is a fun opportunity for volunteers to reconnect with the earth while also strengthening the park’s habitat for the hundreds of native and migratory species that call Tallahassee-Leon County home, even if only for a season.
This year, volunteers will help plant a diverse mix of native and pollinator species, including Profusion and Robinson Crabapple trees, pond cypress, eastern red cedar, serviceberry and American beech.
The City of Tallahassee and Leon County have a long history of celebrating Arbor Day. Last year, hundreds of trees and shrubs were planted by volunteers of all ages at the City’s Lake Elberta Park.
Volunteers are asked to dress for the weather and bring gloves, shovels, drinking water and friends. The event will take place rain or shine. No registration is necessary.
