TPD to Host National Night Out in Two Tallahassee Neighborhoods
August 04, 2018
In 1984, the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) hosted the first National Night Out. This event was held on the first Tuesday in August and has become an annual event. The first year, 2.5 million Americans in 400 communities in 23 states participated. Today, participation is at 34 million people in over 10,000 communities from all 50 states.
National Night Out is a positive community event, which:
- Heightens crime and drug prevention awareness.
- Generates support for and participation in local anti-crime programs.
- Strengthens neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
- Sends a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
This year two Tallahassee neighborhoods will host the event on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. The Eastgate Neighborhood will participate in Tuesday night's National Night Out Celebration from 6:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m. at Eastgate Way and Danshire Drive. TPD will also be at 3535 Roberts Avenue in The Meadows Neighborhood from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Annual National Night Out is sponsored by the NATW, Target, Kiwanis and the Police Athletic League. Local vendors as well as the Tallahassee Police Department's Community Relations Unit, will be on-site to share home and business security information and services available to help protect you and your property.
Be sure to be part of the nation's largest annual crime and drug prevention event.
